Professor Bailey began teaching at Anderson University in 2000. He previously taught at Bartlesville Wesleyan College (now Oklahoma Wesleyan University) and Ball State University.

Upon graduation from Sterling College, Prof. Bailey attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine for two years. Feeling that God was directing him to a different path and career choice, he left KU and moved to Muncie, Indiana to attend Ball State University. At Ball State he completed his M.A. and will complete his Ed.D. soon.

Prof. Bailey's graduate course work has centered on human anatomy and physiology. He finds the study of the human body to be fascinating and greatly desires his students to be as excited as he is about their studies. Teaching Bioethics allows him to work with upper division students who want to wrestle with issues about the ethics of medicine, the environement, and science research.

Prof. Bailey directs the TeachScience program for the Department of Biology and Department of Chemistry/Physics. Students who complete the complementary TeachScience major and their science major will be qualified to teach their subject in junior high or high school. The program is designed to be completed in four years, including student teaching.

Prof Bailey currently has a research project that students may join focusing on isolating the FGFR3 gene from tissue samples. This gene has been implicated as a possible cause of non-syndromic craniosynostosis.

Professor Bailey is a faculty member within the Department of Biology at Anderson University. Through the integration of faith and learning, the Department of Biology strives to give students a breadth of foundational knowledge that will serve them, whether they plan to teach or to continue their own education in medical or dental school or other graduate degree programs.

The biology department is dedicated to providing students with a well-rounded background in the field of biology. Students can concentrate their studies in various areas of biology by taking courses such as anatomy, physiology, histology, mammalian physiology, molecular biology, plant science, and environmental ecology. Students interested in botany and entomology can also pursue their own individual course route. Biology majors are encouraged to design individual projects that examine and investigate their particular area of interest.

The Department of Biology offers the following majors:
